Our Spring Summer 26 Collection: Behind The Design

13 Oct 2026
FRANKIE4

Summer footwear is often designed around the season. FRANKIE4 designs around the woman living in it.

As temperatures rise, so can the challenges of keeping footwear comfortable. Feet can swell throughout the day, straps can begin to feel tighter, and a shoe that felt perfect in the morning can feel very different by late afternoon.

For its latest Spring Summer collection, Australian footwear label FRANKIE4 has made adjustability a key focus, creating styles designed to adapt to the changes women experience. But the thinking behind the collection goes much deeper than a seasonal focus on fit.

"We don't design shoes for an imaginary woman."

- FRANKIE4 Director of Footwear, Gabrielle Thompson

“Our customers are an incredibly important part of our design process. They tell us what happens when they actually live in a shoe, and we listen — after eight hours on their feet, when they're travelling, when it's hot, when their feet change throughout the day. That insight helps us challenge and refine what we create.”

That real-world insight has been particularly important for Spring Summer, where more adjustability has played a central role so more women feel accommodated.  Feet naturally change throughout the day, particularly in warmer weather and during periods of extended walking or standing. Selected styles in the new collection incorporate considered adjustable features, allowing women to adapt the fit as their feet change.

For FRANKIE4, this is part of a broader philosophy: comfort isn't simply about adding an arch support and calling a shoe comfortable.

“Support is so much more than arch support,” says Gabrielle.

“We think about the whole foot — the forefoot, arch and heel — and how those areas work together. Our founders clinical background and the FRANKIE4 DNA means we're always considering the bigger picture of how the foot interacts with the rest of the body.” Her lifestyle, her movement, her needs and her expectations inform the design — not simply the final styling. “Everything we design starts with understanding the woman who will wear it, what she's going to do in it and where it's going to take her.”

The result is a Spring Summer collection that combines contemporary silhouettes and seasonal design with thoughtful adjustability and FRANKIE4's podiatrist-designed footbed technology.

From summer travel and long lunches to everyday workdays, weekends away and days spent exploring somewhere new, the collection is designed for the reality of women's lives — not simply how they look in a product photograph.

Because better footwear isn't created by designing for the shoe first. It starts by designing for the woman.

About The Brand

FRANKIE4 is an Australian footwear label founded by two podiatrists, one of whom is also a physiotherapist, with a belief that women should never have to choose between shoes that look good and shoes that give their feet the support and cushioning they need.

Our mission is to change the future of women’s footwear by creating beautiful shoes women actually want to wear, with hidden, research-backed comfort and support built into every design.

Designed by women, for women, FRANKIE4 takes a whole-body approach to footwear, drawing on an understanding of the body beyond the foot and its impact on the legs, hips and back. The woman is always the brief — what she is doing, where she is going and what she needs from her footwear.

Our Design Lab brings together women with expertise across podiatry, physiotherapy, research, fashion and technical design. Every FRANKIE4 design combines contemporary style, podiatrist-designed technology and real-world customer insight to create footwear that supports women through everyday life and the moments that matter most.

Our commitment to evidence-led innovation is reflected in our research partnership with Queensland University of Technology (QUT), where FRANKIE4 footwear has been studied in research exploring plantar heel pain and the role footwear can play in supporting women’s feet.

With more than 150,000 verified five-star customer reviews, our greatest proof comes from women who have worn and loved FRANKIE4 and want others to experience the difference our footwear can make.

Founded in Australia in 2010, FRANKIE4 is now sold globally, with eight retail stores across Australia and our first US store in Seattle, Washington. We continue to challenge what comfortable footwear looks and feels like — creating shoes women genuinely want to wear, without compromising on the support their feet need.
