Every year, Australia imports over 25 million sports shoes – and only an estimated 1% are recycled. And that doesn’t include the flats, sandals, slides, and heels we love to wear too. We’ve committed to keeping shoes out of landfill for good. We do this in partnership with TreadLightly, a national recycling initiative powered by the Australian Sporting Goods Association (ASGA) and Australia’s premier footwear recycler, Save our Soles. So far, we’ve saved over 20,000 pairs of shoes from landfill. But there’s more to be done.

THE PROBLEM
Millions of shoes end up in landfill each year. These shoes contribute to greenhouse gas emissions and pollution by emitting chemicals into the soil and groundwater.
To protect our planet, we must reduce emissions in line with the 1.5C pathway and minimise negative impacts on biodiversity.
