12 May 2026

Nikki Parkinson, award-winning blogger, author, designer, and stylist shares a personal and touching recap of her stay on Hamilton Island. From a special occasion trip to the moments that made it, share in the adventure.

Introducing Nikki Parkinson, award-winning blogger, author, creator of Styling You, journalist, designer, stylist, and long-time FRANKIE4 friend,

Welcome to Nikki’s Hamilton Island Stay

When I scheduled surgery for late July in 2025, I had this vision of emerging all shiny and new come September. And while the extended fatigue that comes with major surgery is still around and will be for another couple of months, this month has been about embracing a lot of what I couldn’t do during recovery.

The absolute highlight was having all my family back together for one night after more than two years. I think this photo says it all.

And to top off my month of emerging into the real world, we had the most chilled and fun long weekend on Hamilton Island celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary.I’vewritten and compiled a post on my blog. Save it ifyou’rethinking of travelling to the island anytime soon. You can read it HERE.

It wasn’t my first time but my first time on a Hamilton Island couple’s escape just with my husband. There is truly something magical about taking off from Brisbane Airport and landing 1.5 hours later in sub-tropical island paradise.

One minute we’re walking across the tarmac, the next we’re whisked away in a private transfer to check in while sipping Champagne. We didn’t even have to collect our own suitcases from the carousel. They magically appeared in our room a short time later.

I’d booked the Beach Club, one of two adult-only hotel accommodation options on Hamilton Island and this VIP treatment was just one of the many extras included in the price of our stay. Apart from the adults-only appeal, its location right on Catseye Beach provided an ever-changing ocean backdrop as the tide came and went. You are right among the action of the island but in peaceful privacy.

The spacious rooms offer a view of Catseye beach either from the ground or second level – some offer a slightly obstructed view. I requested the second level (not guaranteed) but we received and loved. Each has a beach-facing balcony or a courtyard, and the king-size bed looks out to the water. Waking up to this view was magical, as was sleeping with the sliding balcony doors open (shutters closed) to hear the waves lapping the sand. So soothing.

There are so many inclusions in your room rate. Breakfasts, either poolside or in your room, VIP transfers to and from anywhere on the island, complimentary barista coffees and soft drinks and use of watercraft and snorkelling gear to name a few. Staff were attentive and friendly which just added to the relaxed vibe of the entire stay.

4. Long lunch dining at new Catseye Pool Club

Hamilton Island tips

1. Book early if you can – you’ll get the best deals

2. Want more budget accommodation for couples? Check out Palm Bungalows

3. Travelling as a group? There are so many self-contained house/villa/apartment options.

4. Book buggies, activities and restaurants a couple of months before your trip, especially if travelling in peak times.

5. High/low it. Yes some of the dining options on offer are $$$ but you can also get a pizza from the pizzeria on the main drive at the marina

6. The IGA at the marina has all your snack needs covered – including local prawns – and if you’re staying in self-contained accommodation, you can easily self cater.

What to pack

We travelled to Hamilton Island in September. It’s a beautiful time of year to visit – not too hot but warm enough to swim and outside of the stinger season. For a weekend or short-stay escape, I plan by creating dedicated outfits and I leant into relaxed island vibes for my outfits and, yes, with a couple of changes each day for day to dinners out.
